DEX Software Solutions - Application Suites
DEX Warehouse
DEX Warehouse automates and optimizes inventory management operations for faster transaction processing, increased order accuracy, and superior inventory control. The solution enables swift and efficient execution of all inventory activities, from receipt, to put away, through cycle counts, to picking, packing and shipping. Fully integrated bar code scanning speeds the processing of every transaction, for individual items or full pallets. DEX Warehouse also promotes more organized storage, resulting in increased storage capacity and reduced labor costs.
DEX Warehouse Overview
DEX Warehouse is a module of the reverse logistics solution suite developed by DEX Systems, the IT solutions division of DEX. DEX Warehouse is an interactive front-end extension to the Oracle® E-Business Suite, designed to provide ERP-level warehouse functionality for maximum inventory control, optimal resource utilization, and greater business profitability.
DEX Warehouse incorporates an intuitive and straightforward user interface to the Oracle inventory system. It provides visibility, control, and predictability for real world inventory and warehouse management issues. It also eases the handling of Oracle inventory transactions, processes that are often cumbersome in the native Oracle application. Additionally, DEX Warehouse provides bar code scanning, cost management, cycle count capability, serial number tracking, scheduling, put away, storage control, picking/fulfillment, packing, and shipment control.
Because DEX Warehouse is fully integrated with the Oracle Inventory Management application out-of-the-box, users are assured that all transactions will accurately update Oracle inventory and financial records, so SEC, Sarbanes-Oxley and other financial reporting requirements are never compromised.
DEX Warehouse provides full visibility and control of the warehouse from receipt to shipment, and it enforces a consistent process to ensure accuracy and quality with every inventory transaction.

Increased Management Visibility
DEX Warehouse includes a customizable, color-coded process flow management dashboard that instantly alerts managers and staff to impending problems in the inventory transaction and warehouse flow, allowing them to be proactive in resolving issues before a critical customer situation develops. Detailed information is available behind each field on the dashboard, so management can easily drill down – to a specific order, or part and serial number level if needed – to get more specific information.
DEX Warehouse
A key component of DEX Warehouse rests in the control provided to the operator at the receiving station. Up-to-date document control, managed via location-sensitive messaging (LSM), automatically alerts receivers as to the proper disposition of incoming material. Rules for handling and routing incoming items can be established by product group, part number, or based on the customer from whom the goods are received. For example, certain part numbers may require serial number tracking, others may not; parts received from some customers may be routed to a zero dollar consignment sub-inventory, while parts from other customers will be received into a valued inventory location, etc. Customizable receiving instructions ensure that specific instructions, selected by the client, or specified by product group or part number, are used in the receiving activity so the quality of the receiving process is not compromised, and the appropriate inventory records are updated correctly.
DEX Warehouse also includes a very sophisticated cycle-count capability. All cycle counts are recorded by part number and serial number, as well as by bin location. The software automatically compares the actual counts for each part number, serial number and bin location to the system record for item and bin location. So DEX Warehouse is not only calculating whether the correct quantities and serial numbers are available, it is also evaluating if these parts are in the right storage locations. (After all, what good is a part that you need if you can’t find it because it is not in the right place?). Count variances, serial number variances, or bin location variances are recorded in a default “discrepancy” inventory location until they can be corrected or reconciled.
The solution also provides a robust pallet handling facility for high volume serialized items. Serialized items of the same part number can be scanned by serial number, loaded onto a pallet, and then shrink-wrapped. A unique ID number can then be assigned to each pallet. This unique pallet ID contains a record of each individual serial number that is contained on that pallet. When that pallet moves through any process in the warehouse, from put away, through cycle-count, to picking, packing, and shipping, the inventory records are updated correctly for each individual serial number on that pallet.
Order Management
DEX Warehouse enables single unit or high volume – including pallet - pick, pack and ship activity. Directed picking by location allows for efficient pick management throughout the warehouse. Picking also includes the ability to select only specific customer requested serial numbers or pallet IDs. Picking can also enforce special handling requirements, such as adding a mouse or a mouse pad to a package before final shipment, or other unique instructions.

Integrated Shipping
DEX Warehouse extends the integrated barcode technology used throughout the entire inventory management cycle to the shipping dock. As packages are loaded on the carriers vehicles, weigh bills can be scanned to record the date and time the shipments actually left the shipping dock, thus completing the warehouse order processing cycle time. Performance data needed for queue management controls, order tracking and measurement purposes is now complete and is a mouse click away.
Consistent Quality
Consistency is a hallmark of good process controls. With the DEX Warehouse solution, processes are repeatable every time—enabling a uniform business process, and consistent customer satisfaction.
Improved Financials
DEX Warehouse allows for detailed financial monitoring of all operational costs. Sophisticated cycle count capabilities ensure inventory accuracy and help reduce or even eliminate inventory shrinkage. The result is financial stability and the ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions. Controlling material costs and overhead during the process, rather than at the end of a fiscal period improves the overall financial picture.
Parts costs can be analyzed from many perspectives, by product, order, inventory, or sub-inventory category. And they can be viewed as actual dollar costs or percentages.
