DEX Software Solutions - Application Suites
DEX Utilities
DEX Utilities provides system administrators with screens and tools that ease and streamline their daily system administration tasks. DEX Utilities includes easy-to-read screens and reports, not elsewhere available in Oracle that facilitate system administrative, development, and investigative work.
DEX Utilities Overview
DEX Utilities is a module developed by DEX Systems, the IT solutions division of DEX. DEX Utilities is a front-end extension to the Oracle® E-Business suite specifically designed to enhance the productivity of system administrators.
The DEX Utilities module allows system administrators to monitor activity, make dynamic changes, and improve their control over concurrent request processing in the Oracle system. DEX Utilities also includes screens and reports that are especially useful to those with system administration, development, deployment, or security responsibilities.
The primary screen in DEX Utilities is the concurrent request monitoring screen. Administrators can enter all relevant information about recurring concurrent requests into the system, such as the daily or weekly schedule, parameters, copies, printers, etc. The Monitor Process screen then tracks the status of those processes and automatically notifies the system administrator if any of the concurrent requests runs generated errors or warnings.

DEX Utilities also provides concurrent request statistics that include information such as the total requests, average minutes, and the actual time it took each report to complete. This provides system administrators with a clear picture about the processing status of these reports and helps them balance what reports can be the most successfully run over a certain timeframe.
Enhanced Management Visibility
The DEX Utilities module is very comprehensive, providing system administrators and developers with numerous features that are not available with a standard Oracle implementation. For example, The “Function” menu informs system administrators about each function and subsequent menu and responsibilities in which the function is enabled. This can be extremely helpful for custom development or custom responsibility definition. The “Responsibility Users” screen provides a quick view of all users for a particular responsibility and when they were given that responsibility; the system administrator can then download these files. This is especially useful for quick security audits.
A wide variety of reports are also available with DEX Utilities. For example, the “Users to Inactivate” report, which is geared toward human resources, provides system administrators with a list of users in the Oracle system who have been recently terminated. This report, which can be run hourly, daily, or weekly, depending on each company’s specific needs, provides a way to automatically disable those users. Another report, “Revision Control and Revision History,” is a top-level tracking system that helps system administrators keep track of changes and can be also be used to keep users abreast of changes to the Oracle code.
DEX Systems, the IT solutions division of DEX, was created to respond to real world problems in IT business processes. To address those issues, DEX Systems developed application solutions that specifically address areas not handled by Oracle applications. As a result, DEX Systems is now able to provide software solutions that have been developed, tested, and used in support of hundreds of clients worldwide. Our clients have the ability to select one or multiple modules based on their unique needs, enjoying “best in class” solutions for all of their business requirements.
