DEX Supplier
DEX Supplier efficiently manages and measures the entire outsourced repair process, from RMA request and shipment to product return.  DEX Supplier promotes closer collaboration with third party and OEM repair vendors to improve the accuracy of inventory transactions and the effectiveness of repair operations.

DEX Supplier Overview
DEX Supplier is a module of the reverse logistics suite developed by DEX Systems, the IT solutions division of DEX.  DEX Supplier is a front-end extension to the Oracle® E-Business suite, specifically designed to control and manage the outsourcing of products to be repaired through an Out-to-Vendor (OTV) process.

Designed to tackle real world issues in repair processes, DEX Supplier provides visibility, control, and predictability throughout the entire outsourced repair cycle.  DEX Supplier is fully integrated with Oracle Purchasing, giving users access the Oracle Approved Supplier List (ASL) for outsource vendor and pricing information and enabling them to instantly create Purchase Orders (POs) when needed. 

The solution ensures superior quality practices, shortened repair turnaround times, and significant cost savings.

DEX Supplier
Companies that provide depot repair services for their clients must at times send parts or products to different organizations to perform specific types of repairs.  Examples of these circumstances include:

  • When an assembly, or a component within an assembly, must be sent to the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) because the repair can be performed under the original equipment manufacturer’s warranty.
  • If a regulatory agency, such as the FDA, has stipulated that the company that manufactured the equipment must also repair the equipment.
  • The expertise or parts required to repair the equipment are only available in another organization.

DEX Supplier helps companies control and monitor the movement of material during these outsourcing cycles.

The solution automatically detects which outsource vendors require an RMA before products are shipped to them for repair.   It also automatically generates a corresponding PO to accompany the shipment.

If a product is sent to an OEM for warranty repair, but the OEM determines the damage to the product is not covered by warranty, DEX Supplier tracks all of the OEM repair charges and bills the original customer for all OEM repair work plus an appropriate handling charge.  This ensures that the depot repair provider is properly reimbursed for the repair costs it had to pay the OEM, and provides a profit margin as well.  Repair work sent to an outsource vendor for an estimate is handled in much the same way.  DEX Supplier keeps track of the estimate and the actual repair costs, adds on an appropriate upcharge, and ensures the original customer is properly invoiced through its integration to Oracle Financials.

DEX Supplier enables internal audits to ensure that the supplier is following agreed upon processes and procedures.  This includes audits in product and process quality, focusing on areas such as quality management, continuous improvement, data systems, and material and equipment control.  When the audit is complete, the supplier and DEX report their findings, identifying corrective actions and the timeframe within which they must be implemented.

Improved Management Visibility
The DEX Supplier module employs flexible reporting and tracking capabilities for ease of use and management control.

Additionally, DEX Supplier provides an Outside Supplier Processing (OSP) work order queue.  The queue clearly displays the current status of items that have been sent to outsource vendors for repair.  Details such as shipment information, what orders are in need of a PO, when the item was sent to the vendor, and more are available in the queue management screen.  Users also have the ability to update quantities and prices.

Consistent Process
Process consistency is a hallmark of good process controls. DEX Supplier ensures consistent and repeatable outsource repair management processes.  The solution is fully integrated with the DEX Returns and Repair modules, guaranteeing a streamlined and uniform flow of information throughout the entire return and repair cycle.

Improved Financials 
The DEX Supplier module allows for detailed financial monitoring of all outsourced repair activities. It also ensures that all outsource repair costs will be properly invoiced to the customer who originally returned the equipment for repair, and it adds an appropriate profit margin to those invoices.  The result is financial stability in the outsource repair process and the ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions.  Controlling production costs, material costs, and overhead during the process rather than at the end of a fiscal period improves the overall financial picture.

Outsource repair costs can be analyzed from many perspectives: By customer, component, product, order, or repair vendor. They can be viewed as actual dollar costs or percentages. Reports detailing material or labor costs at a specific part number and serial number level are also available.
