DEX Launches New Parts Procurement Service for the Wind Energy Sector

Camarillo, CA - June 12, 2009 - DEX®, a leader in supply chain logistics, today announced it has launched a new Parts Procurement service for the Wind Energy section.  One of the key issues facing wind farm operators and power companies – sourcing out-of-warranty and hard to find parts – is being addressed by a new service introduced by DEX Renewables.

A new division has been formed within DEX Renewables dedicated to sourcing wind turbine electronic and mechanical parts quickly and efficiently and getting them to where they are needed with ease.

The division has access to a 4,000-strong global network of trusted suppliers who compete daily to provide the lowest price possible on spares.  Each part sourced by DEX is thoroughly tested and inspected for functionality and cosmetic criteria and comes with an industry-leading warranty.  Even parts for discontinued equipment which are notoriously difficult to find can be sourced via DEX’s extensive network of contacts throughout America, Asia and Europe.  In addition, DEX’s strict screening procedures ensure that defective or rogue parts are prevented from entering the supply chain.

DEX also operates a comprehensive swap out service including the following steps:

  • Defective parts returned immediately and stored centrally at DEX
  • Defectives repaired by DEX based on demand
  • Repaired parts stored for call-off or shipment as required
  • Optional DEX web portal means that the client has instant visibility of stock levels/location/condition on a 24/7 basis

“One of the most frustrating events for wind farm operators or utilities is when a mechanical or electronic component develops a fault and needs to be replaced.  This can have a drastic effect on operational efficiency if the part cannot be sourced quickly,” said Sean Keller, business unit director, DEX Renewables.  “If the equipment is out-of-warranty or discontinued the task is even more time-consuming.  Our global team has the contacts, engineering knowledge and experience to find these parts at the most competitive price possible wherever they are in the world.”

The parts procurement service complements DEX Renewables extensive repair, refurbishment and logistics services to the renewables sectors.  For further information please visit www.dex.com/renewables or call +353 1 848 6555.
