FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE For more information contact: Randy Hudson Contact: Yoichi Kanazawa DEX Awarded Reverse Logistics Agreement with Funai Corporation, Inc. Camarillo, CA - February 5, 2007 - DEX® (Data Exchange Corporation), a leading supply chain solution provider and Funai Corporation, Inc., a leading U.S. consumer electronics company, today announced the implementation of a three-year agreement in which DEX will manage many of Funai’s Reverse Logistics activities throughout the United States. Under the agreement, DEX will manage channel returns processing for consumer electronics products. The integrated logistics solution operation includes repair and refurbishment services. As part of this agreement, Funai will receive supply chain visibility for all execution and inventory management through a unique integrated web portal developed exclusively by DEX on an Oracle® platform. This state-of-the-art web portal, tracking, query and reporting tool, DEX’s OrderVision® system, provides Funai operations with real-time visibility and data access 24x7 in the U.S. and Japan. In addition to enhanced accuracy and asset management, the Funai engineering and executive operations headquartered overseas will have complete and immediate data access to returns, product failure and customer satisfaction data. This rapid advancement in information access is a strategic advantage for the emerging technology giant. Tetsuya Kawasaki, Senior Director Service of Funai, states, “We are looking forward to building a partnership with DEX a company that shares our beliefs of innovation and perseverance. By outsourcing the channel return process, Funai will be able to reduce our internal costs dramatically in harmony with DEX’s engineering, repair and asset recovery capabilities.” In this unique business venture, Funai and DEX have collaborated to utilize the IT systems, engineering and supply chain expertise of DEX, with the manufacturing, Kaizen, and attention to detail associated with the Funai Production System. The organizations have created a union of best-in-class processes and systems. Both companies have contributed equipment and experience to design a returns facility that will be able to support the consumer electronic products sold by Funai in the U.S. The high speed transactional model expedites product through a returns, inspection, refurbishment and repair process that takes as little as ten seconds per station. This fast paced productivity is critical to a highly competitive consumer electronics market, fatigued by price erosion and fierce competition. This joint venture is a strategic investment into the future. “DEX’s unique approach in the Reverse Logistics supply chain will provide Funai and its shareholders a robust value proposition by collapsing many work streams together managed by one system. Our team looks forward to a long and mutually rewarding partnership with Funai,” says Sheldon Malchicoff, CEO at DEX.About Funai About DEX OrderVision is a trademark of Data Exchange Corporation. |
